Since we have (seemingly) no one with any moral authority serving in the executive branch of the federal government, it may be up to one or another of the many great international entities to walk in here and get started.

It’s easy enough to say “I didn’t vote for him” or “not my president”…but the truth is we all bear responsibility to call out criminal behavior when it sits staring us in the face.

At the moment, being an American is a bit embarrassing; more to the point, it’s dangerous. Who will be next to be targeted? And…who will be the one(s) to stop this criminal who claims to be a great patriot? One who is senile and evil has no business sitting as head of this nation. He and all the fools and fakes and cruel conspirators who surround him must go.

Thank you for this article…may it lead us toward justice and peace.

Thank you for the kind and wise comment. I think we should call on any state Attorneys General in blue or purple states who have jurisdiction for any reason (war machinery made there, for example). We should press Dems in Congress to stop with their half-assed shadow cabinet that's done almost nothing and schedule independent hearings, even if non-binding, to show the American public what Trump has been doing--with Venezuela, ICE, the National Guard, etc. I am sure others may have other ideas...

We need outside help big time. These asshats in DC are getting away with fucking murder...literally.

Cliff Schecter's avatar

Outside help...would be very nice. All for it

Kristin Beauchamp's avatar

Yes, we’re tired of the outside help Pootie has been giving our country.

We can’t some legal, legitimate, ethical, moral help to stop this horrible 🤬stuff‼️

Ingrid's avatar

Not only “nice”: probably essential. Just because we apparently didn’t sign on to be part of the international Criminal Court that ran the Nuremberg trials shouldn’t mean we are exempt from their actions. If we did get that “outside assistance”, and worked with it for resurrection of justice, it would accomplish several things: rein in this arrogant current administration, help us return to our own original principles, reinstate us with the rest of the western world, and help us regain respect. Unfortunately, it will probably require our own “regime change”, starting with next year’s elections.

Time for a Tribunal to take out the trash in this entire administration.

Cliff Schecter's avatar

Obviously, coudln't agree more. And there's a lot of trash there

Sure should not ignore and neither should the UN’s ICC.

Phil Burns's avatar

We're not part of the world court other wise I'd agree.

Amen. There are two things standing between Secretary Sparkle Pony and The Hague: 1. he hasn't been charged by the ICC with anything yet, and 2. the US (thanks to old-school war criminals GW Bush and Dead Dick Cheney) is not a member state of the ICC. We were on track to be, but the aforementioned war criminals kinda knew that would work out badly for them, and pulled out of the Rome Statute.

The bad news for Sparkle Pony, though, is that the very first Latin American country to sign onto the Rome Statue and become a member state of the ICC was...? Anyone? Anyone? If you said "Venezuela" congratulations! So the next time Ol' Sparkle Pony sets foot in a member country, they're obliged to arrest his ass and send him directly to The Hague, do not pass go do not collect $200. Will they do it? Will Sparkle give them the chance? The world is waiting to find out... Oh, and since the buck stops with Orange Julius -- whether he wants to admit it or not -- the same could be said for him. And he's not so popular that the EU wouldn't dare do it. But it's more likely they let him remain our problem. Because they'd be afraid we'd come after them to get him back. Which about 25% of the country would be on side with. But the REST of us would be more than happy -- nay, grateful even -- to give him to a court with (a) jurisdiction and (b) some testicular fortitude.

Agreed on all of this

So does Google Gemini. Sundar's gonna be persona non grata at the next White House soiree if Fat Donny Two-Times finds out about that.

This audaciousness is troubling on several fronts. It worries me that they believe they are above reproach because they have a plan in place to keep control of government and military. It makes me sick to my stomach to think of it.

Cliff Schecter's avatar

It really is revolting. Absolutely revolting.

Steve Winkler's avatar

Has Hegseth ever heard of the Nuremberg trials. Or would he dismiss this momentous event as a lame WOKE exercise?

No time to “cry harder.”

Time to prosecute with due diligence.

Gerri's avatar

This entire administration and the Trump bought SCOTUS are straight up Criminals !!!

Mary Schweitzer's avatar

Where IS the international call for a trial? There should be. Trump isn’t going to police his own, and the Republican Party isn’t either - which means Congress is silent, and the Supreme Court is a mess. We need an international penalty.

As for this column - 👏👏👏👏👏

Cliff Schecter's avatar

THank you for the kind words about the column, and I agree with your sentiment. Anything that can shape opinion by our international allies should be done. They've said some things, but there is power in numbers. If they dont' want to get in a direct fight they can call out the behavior as illegal.

Victoria Pawlick's avatar

Yup, war crime. Investigate and prosecute all involved.

All so true, Cliff, and chilling. My father fought the Nazis, and served guarding them in a POW camp after the war. It's disgusting that his country is now practicing these crimes. If he were alive to see what we have become, he would be heartbroken, and angry. So much sacrifice, by so many, being spit upon by these common criminal thugs. For the intellectually challenged "secretary of war", the motive was probably more of a mob-esque leave no witnesses to the crime. It's all so disgusting. I fervently hope these people are held to account someday. From the top orange crook, right down to the last POS ICE agent terrorizing our people.

Cliff Schecter's avatar

Yep. My Great Uncle was in the Battle of the Bulge. Got shot. Refused a medic. Got shot again, tried to refuse again but had to go get treated. It's sickening that we've become, to take a phrase, "the banality of evil." I'm sure some of it was leave no witnesses, but he's mentally damaged like everyone who surrounds Trump--settled a sexual assault charge, treated women so badly his mom wrote him a letter calling him a POS. I'm sure he also did it b/c he just enjoys it. That's who we're dealing with.

Thanks Cliff for calling out this useless poser. This prick does not have immunity. Time to start planning who we will go after once the fat felon is through.

It feels so logical and kind of like we're yelling common sense all the time. I keep waiting for the bad guys to fall apart, then remembering this has only been less than a year (this time). The dam has to break soon. Nice piece, Cliff.

Ted Miller's avatar

I agree. I also think the U.S. enabling of war crimes by Russia in Ukraine and Israel in Gaza need to be investigated and our government held accountable for that as well.
