*Anything* that results in removal works for me. But not just Fat Donny. His enablers have to go too. And *they* don't get immunity. Probably a pardon, but only if it's a federal charge.
Jeffries is doing a great job. When was the last time the Democratic caucus in the House splintered the way the gOP has? Ans: it hasn't. And that's Jeffries job, not making inspiring speeches.
"Remember - it took all the allied forces to stop the German aggression. This is not going to fare well for the US. Once a dictator has been able to take control and set roots…getting rid of them is not as easy as asking. Once they have control of courts, and have established a military that is bigger and more effective and they have actors within the national military that will act on orders based on loyalty to the leader rather than the constitution…they have the ability to accomplish almost anything. That’s what I’ve observed…historically anyway. Even then…the poison injected into the population is long lasting. The hate and bigotry used to manipulate people into taking these actions is deep. Why do you think the budget for "ICE" is rapidly exceeding that of the national military? If you are an empath, it will be sickening. Because you see the writing on the wall. You see the truth they try so hard to obfuscate."
No matter what Maduro is or has done, it doesn't give trump the power, authority or right to act on his own. Who does he think he is??? We have the most criminal, crooked president that ever held office, and I would not approve of another country bombing DC and killing and endangering innocent civilians in order to bring him to justice. If they want to come get him and hold him accountable without endangering innocents, they have my full support!!! Who is trump to say we'll run Venezuela till they do what we approve of??? He may say these are not acts of war, but really? What are they then? Taking over control, no different than a Putin. As far as attacking the Democrats, I think the spineless Republicans who have NEVER stood up to trump are the ones we need to focus on attacking. They are preventing the Democrats from accomplishing anything! Hold THEM accountable! Yes, Dems need to be louder, never stop harping on his lawlessness - be merciless and relentless. But I do not want them to stoop to their indecent, unprofessional, undiplomatic, crude behaviour!!! We're BETTER than that!!!
If the shoe were on the other foot they'd call it treason. Jan 6 was treasonous. And many more examples of traitorous acts have also taken place. Call it what it is - treaaon.
Yes, and no mercy for treason. From trump and his insurrectionists to his enablers in office. Treason is one crime we should still use a firing squad. Because otherwise these criminals end up back on our streets endangering our country - just look at the nearly 1600 traitors from January 6th!!!
Jeffries and Schumer are way too mild in their statements. They always have been. What happened this weekend must stop. It’s time to kick some ass. They need to step aside and let progressive leaders like AOC, Crockett, Moskovitz, and plenty of others start making fun of Republicans, haul their asses in for questioning and grill them until they cry. We cannot go on like this.
AOC is not a leader; she's a speechifier, which is valuable in its way but shouldn't be mistaken for real leadership. Jeffries has done an excellent job and the less we eat our own, the better off we'll be. BTW Moscowitz is one of the least progressive Democrats in the House, ranked #200. We desperately need to learn not to make snap judgements based on appearances and statements that make us swoon.
Yes, Democrats will likely win bigly in November IF . . . our votes count, are not suppressed, mail-ins arrive in time, AND Elon doesn't manipulate the count as he did in 2024!
Jefffries is ranked #68 most progressive; anyone over 90 is pretty progressive. Seth Moulton is ranked 151, getting into "centrist" territory, although his recent voting record has become much more progressive as he's trying to primary one of the most reliably progressive members of the Senate Ed Markey (#4). He's written a campaign statement here, while Jeffries has written a policy statement.
I'm from Mass, and Markey has always spoken up - he has guts and conviction, decency and brains. Not all older people in office have to be replaced!!!
Experience and wisdom and track record count for a lot. We need some of them in there. Moulton has focused his campaign on age because he can't find anything else against Markey. Markey has done great by us - I support him. He's older but not old fashioned or compromised.
Exactly. Moulton is another of those overprivileged white guys who think because they're white guys who went to Harvard they don't really need to do anything to earn their way to the top of the ladder. Moulton's premature ambition—trying to grab Pelosi's job, running for president despite no outstanding record in Congress and now this—is not very appealing. Right now, Massachusetts has two of the most progressive senators (Warren is #1, Markey is current #4 and has often been ranked higher) and they WORK for their positions. The state also has several congresspeople among the most progressive but they are Ayanna Pressley, Katherine Clark and Jim McGovern, not Seth Moulton. Stephen Lynch is the only one ranked lower than Moulton.
The difference is that Jeffries is a leader, not a polemicist, and his job isn't to arose public blood lust but to keep his caucus pointed in the right direction. The self-aggrandizing Seth Moulton is on a mission to take out one of the Senate's most reliable progressives, Ed Markey, and advance his own political climb to the presidency which was aborted in 2020 when it was clear no one needed yet another prematurely ambitious no-name white guy posing as a centrist who had already gotten ahead of himself by challenging Nancy Pelosi for speaker in 2018, a job for which he had no qualifications. He's just the Tim Ryan of Massachusetts.
This moment in time demands more than what he’s doing. He is not prepared for this situation. We don’t need “blood lust” (seriously??), we need a forceful fighter and he ain’t it.
You seem confused about what this situation is and what we need from our leaders. Stop looking at rankings for anyone about anything. That’s not what’s relevant right now.
You are so right about Moulton!!! Seeing a lot more of him being from Mass. - no match for Ed Markey. Too much big talk and desire for self advancement is not what we need right now. He's okay where he is, but I've reached out to him several times on issues he's done wrong on and never got a reply ...
ALL members of BOTH houses of Congress must finally honor the oaths they took to our country, our Constitution, and the citizens. Trump and his minions break the law every single day and they must be impeached! The country, the Constitution, and the people come first. Those who betray them all must go to prison!
It’s not about flash, it’s about consistency…..every day he should be doing a press conference hammering home our winning agenda….affordability, health care, dignity. He needs to take a page from Zohran Mamdani, he showed them the way and Hakeem drug his feet to endorse him. Not a good look for the Congressional Dems.
He's extremely consistent in his job — which isn't to hold press conferences. I think people should withhold judgment because they're going to find out what an amazing job he is doing. His job is organizational and so far, congressional Democrats have done absolutely everything they can under the circumstances. Also keep in mind that Mamdani has done nothing yet except make flashy speeches. He could be a big success, or a massive failure. It's WAY too soon to hold him up as some kind of shining symbol on success. Sometimes I think what we're really fighting is ourselves, not MAGA.
He doesn’t fight enough! I measure that by what AOC and Bernie Sanders do. They get vocal!! Hakeem should have been doing press conferences daily since the Trump regime took over. Two thirds of the resistance feels like he waits around for an ok from Chuck Schumer. Young people have no time for somebody who doesn’t show action. I understand and feel that pain also, but I’m 68! It’s going to take a commitment from the Congressional Dems beyond what they’ve shown us up until now.
I'm going to add Chris Murphy and Maxwell Frost to AOC and Sanders. They also went on the road and held town halls. They both have been very outspoken. We need more of that from the Dems. I agree with you, Elizabeth!
Spot on assessment as a liberal and Viet Nam vet we are in a war to over throw tRUMP and his minions nothing else works. I would like to see the Dems and what is left of the sane Conservatives put their money where their mouths are nationwide strike. Do I donate, yes I have will but I’ve precious little in effect
New subscriber here. Thanks for having me. Soooo happy you are addressing the ridiculousness of Hakeem (let's not forget milk toast Schumer). Thanks for posting Seth's many comments (I had only seen the CNN exchange). He is SPOT on! What are we going to do everyone? Suggestions? While many of us are out there protesting (weekly, for me at Ciscomani's office), donating what $ we can spare and doing what we can and the Dem leadership just do not seem to get it. WTF. I am beside myself. It is no wonder we (Dems) are losing our younger generation. I look forward to tis year's newsletter. I was a big fan of Schuster's during his MSNBC days.
Without a doubt Jeffries and Schumer must go. Democrats need attack dogs. Ramp up the pressure for a 25th Ammendent removal now!
*Anything* that results in removal works for me. But not just Fat Donny. His enablers have to go too. And *they* don't get immunity. Probably a pardon, but only if it's a federal charge.

Bob Your comment is Pathetic
It’s all about the oil,America is in big trouble as trump for president

You are absolutely correct! The more he gets away with, the more difficult it becomes to regain control. This is very frightening stuff ...

Stand in unity - divided we fall!

Leading who?
Leading us where?!?

Excellent article! Thank you for writing it! It’s time for Chuck and Hakeem to hit the road, step aside for real fighters! 👍❤️🥰
Jeffries is one of the best fighters we have. Not being flashy doesn't mean he isn't a fighter.

His #1 job is to OPPOSE MAGA!
Maybe those two...like a good number of others...are catering to their big donors.
He doesn’t fight enough! I measure that by what AOC and Bernie Sanders do. They get vocal!! Hakeem should have been doing press conferences daily since the Trump regime took over. Liz. This is a terrible article!
Sorry Larry.

Let Jeffries go on blithering all he wants. Voters need to know the real plan the orange monkey has made with Putin.
What is happening?
