I didn't want food filled with steroids (suppressing the immune system) or antibiotics (causing them to become ineffective from over/unnecessary use). Here's a shout out to my late mom...long before the research showed all the diseases and health issues smoking could cause, based on what she was seeing as an operating room nurse, she would talk about her observations and judgments about smoking causing various cancers and diseases, and she would advise us never to smoke, and thanks to her, I never even tried it.
