I don’t understand how so many people believed him. It still boggles my mind that he got re-elected.

To understand how Trump won, is to understand the corruption of the Electoral College on our elections, and his beloved uneducated that voted for him.

What I truly don’t understand is how educated people listened to his incoherent and insane ramblings and thought he was capable of being president. They were in complete denial of the damage he and his Project 2025 masters were going to inflict on this country.

Educated perhaps, uneducated probably through their own neglect and self thought superiority; fascist haters for sure.

Sadly, education doesn't equate to ethics, morals, intelligence, commonsense, nor a resolve towards democracy. Without those they happily ran to the polls and voted for Trump and disinterestedRepublicans. Truth is that the vast majority of his voters were his Beloved Uneducated. As he himself said, "Smart people don't like me". One of the miniscule times he has been correct about anything.

Skepticism and cognitive thinking are the primary tools that intelligence requires. And of course, the indepth understanding of the fundamentals that his voters don't seem to possess. There's other disturbing factors behind those that voted for him exhibit. That is the insane adherence to the culture wars, and where their distrust and hatred for others come from. Laziness in respect to their neglect to understanding civics, history, and the aims behind organized religion, which to all, they simply bow allegiance to. As a result, it's easy for the charlatan to sway them against their own best interest through the fears of the unknown. Subsequently, this is how one of the ancient Greek prose describes them: "The man who takes no interest in matters of civic responsibility is not only lazy, but useless to society as a whole". They also, through their self-imposed lack of common sense, logic, and their failure to be able to empathize with their fellow humans, shades their understanding of what good government is ment to be. That's dispite the fact that it was part of their eighth grade curriculum. It's that one sentence of Thomas Jefferson found in his letters, "The care and happiness of humans, not their destruction, is the First and Only object of good government." Perhaps for some It's because it's inclusive of us all, or perhaps it wasn't taught at their schools for multiple reasons.

Many of these folks have an eighth grade or less education level. Many of them have never ventured further than the closest Walmart, and so are clustered and cultish. It's hard for some to see beyond that. Tradition is another. Fortunately since the election and the extremely bumpy ride their getting from Trump and Republicans, there is a changing minds for many. Perhaps, just perhaps, they'll vote in different candidates when they go to vote the next time??? I'm not going to hold my breath, nor should anyone else Karen.

Keep protesting, signing petitions, and getting out voters in our communities is our job. If they come along, good for them in the overall.

He wasn't good for the economy or the working class in his first term, so why did they think it would be different in a second term? I understand prices had gone up and it was tough on people. But people didn't seem to think it through and look at the whole economy. Joe Biden's job market was healthy with new, decent paying jobs being added all the time. The stock market was stable unlike the roller coaster it's been since Trump took office. Cities and towns in every state had funding for infrastructure repair and expansion. And prices had stabilized a great deal after the worldwide economic shut down and subsequent recovery. Our economic recovery was better than any other country. So why was the big election issue "the economy"? If anyone thought the economy would be better under Trump, what are they thinking now?

That's just it. One has to have a brain to think.

Great column guys. You nailed who that SOB really is. Liars like him have been around forever. Sell bullshit and call it necessary. It speaks to the fact that the average voter is too damn lazy to look behind door number 3 to understand who they are voting for. It is time for those voters to pull back the curtain and get their collective heads out of their asses. Otherwise, we keep electing people like the felon.

Hitler gave Germans the Volkswagen. Maybe Trump has a faux-gold-plated Trumpmobile up his sleeve.

Actually Dan, very few Germans got the Volkswagen, many paid in advance but never got the car.

Trump sold a rusted lemon, spray-painted it gold, and called it freedom. Now folks are pushing it uphill, still humming the national anthem. The Great American Grift: where the con man drives off in your car and leaves you arguing about whose fault it was.
