I just read Dr. Lullove's piece about cancer research. In 1990, when I was 39 years old, I was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer, which, fortunately was caught early and hadn't spread. I had GREAT doctors and I chose the STRONGEST chemo they offered after my total mastectomy. The chemo almost wiped out my blood system, and put me in the hospital in isolation, but I am still here, soon to turn 75. I am grateful for the cancer research and the fabulous medical system that saved my life, allowed me to see my daughters grow up, and become a grandmother whose grandsons are now 15. What is happening to medical research regarding all serious diseases is attempted mass murder as far as I am concerned, and will result in countless unnecessary deaths. And it's being done at the same time that we are cutting taxes for billionaires!!!!
Absolutely agree on the regime's attempt to let people die and to be rid of what they consider human "eyesores". I always wished That Man had been charged with negligent homicide during covid.
I am a 17 year survivor. My path was relatively easy. Nothing like what you went through. Kudos💪🏼🎀
My SIL had an extra year of life after her diagnosis because of a clinical trial up here at the University of Washington. They even went to her in Idaho because she couldn’t travel. We will never know the true costs of actions like these.
You may have had an "easier" course of treatment, but hearing that diagnosis is one of the most terrifying experiences you could have, and I admire your bravery! I'm sorry to hear that your SIL was not as fortunate.
trump & company are actively euthanizing a certain percentage of the American population. As health and food benefits are cut (and cut and cut again), the poorest and most medically endangered are sacrificed first. Education is being dumbed down even further, ensuring people have difficulty accessing or comprehending literature they require for understanding their personal situations.
Secretary RFK and his cohort, Dr. Oz, promote “theories” on medical issues that are not peer reviewed and often times reliant on junk science. Vaccines will harm your children, they state, so it’s best to expose them to diseases that may kill them, or cause lifelong injury. RFK fires experts on his team if they warn the public about the growing number of possible near-term pandemics.
They cut Medicaid to shreds. Medicare will be next. Obamacare shortly after. If we are not physically running at 100%, we are to be rejected. Too old to contribute to the corporate system of slavery? No need to fund your life any longer. Too disabled to join the military or provide labor for corporations? You’re out.
But they have ensured a constant supply of babies. Lil cogs to be placed inside the corporate wheels when they reach puberty. Children who will be indentured to the government or corporate America in order to fill labor quotas. These children will marry in their early teens and provide babies for the next generation of tech feudalism. It will be the logical outcome of relaxed child-labor laws and the removal of contraceptives and abortion.
So again I say that euthanasia is The Plan. The trumpublican party is actively culling the herd, one new law at a time. One new funding cut at a time. They think we won’t be able to do addition, you know, one plus one = two. They think time will erase our memories. They think they’re superior. They think they’ve got it all figured out.
Assuming the US survives the Trump dark ages, we will need to add further amendments to the Constitution making steeper taxes for the wealthy the law of the land, and retroactively sounds good too. Nothing good ever came from robber barons, no matter what the history books say - under examination, those stories tend to fall apart faster than Trump's promises.
As a survivor of an aggressive breast cancer - disabled by chemo induced neuropathy. I am also the sole caregiver for my husband who has been bedridden with a wound that is resisting healing. We are the fortunate ones. We still live at home together and receive excellent care at home. This article is relevant to us because of our circumstances. Even for people who aren’t facing health challenges, it should be relevant to you, as well.
I found this article very relevant and enlightening for two big reasons. I spent my adult working life sincec1971 working in chemistry in research labs and hospitals. I have been a science nerd my whole life and I never understood how many people now reject it. I can't understand how they'd rather believe RFK Jr and his brainworm!! Secondly, I have also had the unfortunate experience of having a catastrophic illness which nearly took my life and because research had developed new antibiotics, I survived. Where would we be without research that has given us a cure for AIDS, a vaccine for COVID in record time or improvements in treating many cancers. Our country is so much poorer with the loss of a lot of our best minds. The cost is incalculable.
I hear everyday that the President has cognitive decline- is it dementia, is it Alzheimer’s, is it his age? One thing I can say is his wife or family won’t have to try to personally care for him at home or worry about getting him the best care and newest treatment, or have all the added worries that come with Alzheimer’s, cancer, and so many other diseases. Research is part of hope- for every dollar taken away from funding for research and clinical trials-they are diminishing hope for better treatment- for any effective treatment- maybe even a cure- for millions of Americans.

Agree and have come to the conclusion that this is their game. Sick twisted end game.

Trumps legacy of shame. A leader of the world in medical research shuttered by greed and stupidity.
