Sadly, SS is my only income at this point and it doesn’t go very far as I worked in small non-profits my whole life. No lattes or eating out here. I am supporting as many promising candidates and clear voiced Substack writers as I can but I do need to eat. This is why I get so incensed at the appalling costs of so many of the president’s pet peeves, for example the utterly stupid war that Trump started—how many billion is it costing each day? And the destruction of the White House to build his own personal bunker. And the frivolous but costly and wasteful lawsuits. And the overkill of ICE. And, and, and…. I WILL tell folks about you and encourage them to tune in and sign up. Thank you for all that you do.
I've closed a few comments on the rise and fall of the authoritarian leaders recently with a similar warning for this oligarch funded class of narcissist pols. One in particular....
The warning is quite stark and should be heeded:
Pitch forks to the White House.
The people of the world expect leaders who are NOT hell bent on creating kleptocracy based governments. Expect and deserve. It's not too much to ask, is it?
Orban was past his due date, rotten to the core of his existence. There's another in Moscow. Vote them out or just take them out to the trash can and be done with them.
We need to push. To get people motivated to turn out. I think the everyday cost increases from the Strait of Hormuz disaster will push more people to stand up and speak out.
Good read, Cliff! It is a hopeful sign, and always enjoyable to see a magat hero fall. From what I have read about Magyar, he was a past crony of Orban, and fellow party member. I hope he does use his majority to re-set the constitutional changes Orban made, but I will take a wait and see attitude. The changes made under Orban will also enhance, and entrench Magyars power, and as the saying goes… you know the rest! Fingers crossed!

Everything Magyar has said so far makes it clear he is not liberal, but he was not corrupt like Orban. His wife was, and she was the Justice Minister, which is why he only left the party a few years ago, when he had broken with Orban's way of doing things somewhat further back.

I like words, I like to be creative with them, but it is an art form, so they should have meaning, symbolism, build a story. I do all I can to faithfully do that and hopefully educate and entertain you guys.
