Those who did all we could to avoid that outcome (which does not, it seems, include President Biden or the leadership of the Democratic party) do not. He is not "our" President. He is the leader of a toxic segment of our population unworthy of the sacrifices of those whom Memorial Day honors, my late father, his two brothers, and my father-in-law among them.
Whether we can or will recover from this horrific attack on everything good about this country is uncertain at best, but I think unlikely. The damage is already severe, and some of it will prove irreversible, especially the loss of trust in our nation's word, which can clearly be broken at whim by a fickle electorate and a demagogic narcissist.
I wonder how many people will be arrested if they actually go to the USA for the Olympics. It’s going to happen, I’ve no doubt. Will any athletes be sent to a prison in a foreign country?

I'm a Navy vet. I did a quick count and since WW2 there have been 14 members of my family serve in the military. My Dad and Uncles with the Navy in the Pacific. My father-in-law was a company commander with the Army 442nd, one of the two Japanese American battalions that fought in Italy. One cousin served in the Navy for 28 years. I lost a cousin and a high school friend in Vietnam.
When I tell you that DT should never a be allowed to open his vile mouth about anything to do with the US Military, it comes from my experience of serving with so many great Americans. Their patriotism shines. DT's is just another shit show and the GOP is guilty of this mess.
