Jack Smith is a patriot and American hero. Trump is a sociopath and criminal.

BlkCaliGirl's avatar

Why didn’t he say that before the election?

Agustin's avatar

Jack Smith couldn't mention anything before the election because it was an ongoing investigation and by law he couldn't. Let's learn the laws so they can stop gaslighting us.

Republicans never play by the rules. Seems it was dragged out just like the Mueller investigation. And why did Garland not release the information instead of passing it on to Jack Smith? It’s all a game. I wondered why a black man headed up the hearings instead of a wyte man also.

The three of you are awesome. Thanks for the great discussion.

Time to name and shame democrats who won’t stand up to DJT

We can all agree on that!

Jack Smith’s testimonies before Congressional committees confirm, “beyond a reasonable doubt,” that Donald Trump tried to overthrow the government on January 6, 2021—a blatant act of treason.

Trump, is intellectually, cognitively, ethically and morally unfit to perform the duties of the president. The majority of Americans reject his treasonous attempt. We reject his invasion of Venezuela, his designs on Greenland, and on other sovereign nations. We reject his Gestapo-like ICE deployments, his sexual predations, his fraudulent financial dealings, his sales of pardons to criminal oligarchs, his murders committed on the high seas, his deployments of the U.S. military against the American people, and—most of all—his compulsive and continual lying.

Opposition to Trump’s presidency grows daily. Revealed by the October 18th “NO KINGS” protests, followed by the total rejection of MAGA Republicans in the November 4th elections, the Trump presidency—as reported by Fox News on November 18—was approved by only 38% of Americans; 60% disapproved.

And, Trump’s approval continues to fall. Every aspect of Trump’s Presidency is now rejected by the majority of the American people. Our majority will not rest until convicted criminal Donald Trump, and his Neo-Nazi enablers, are removed from office, prosecuted and convicted for treason, and punished as dictated by the Constitution.

Cliff and Mike - since you are discussing possible future candidates - how about Adam Kinsinger

I like Adam but he's a Republican

You well highlighted all of the issues the Democrats should be emphasizing although I would broaden the attack from Trump to all Republicans because they are all complicit. This so-called President is bat-shit crazy and the Democrats are hiding under the couch. The Democratic Party as a whole gives Trump and Republicans a pass as to his bribes to himself and extorting money to himself, destroying our international relations, destroying our medical and technological research, and on and on. I too wonder what the Hell happened to the Democratic party. Are they just as complicit? Maybe.

Mostly good points. I do disagree that we have to look at "purple state governors" for candidates — that's the usual "blah blah blah centrism" the "mainstream media" has been feeding us for the last 20+ years. Sorry but I think Newsom, Pritzker and Moore would be excellent candidate also, not one from remotely "purple" state. I think the key thing is what they have done to manage their states and try to improve the lives of their citizens. I don't think Andy Beshear has some magic appeal the others don't.

BlkCaliGirl's avatar

Purple states are status quo. We need a young Bernie or Elizabeth Warren.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Liz Warren perhaps. Bernie, no. He's like a mirror image of Trump: all personality, no substance. And if you took away HIM, there's no there there. Warren built a following based on policies.

Here's an example I've often use. Both advocated for a "Medicare for All" approach to health care. Bernie's 2020 campaign site had less than 500 words on the issue and it basically said "We'll do Medicare for All and it'll be magic." Warren had 10,000 (!) words describing every step to getting there. (Biden had about 5,000 words). But the media just swallowed Bernie's assertions and didn't question him while they hounded Warren with "How will you pay for it?" (It was on her site.) Women are always held to higher standards by the media — always.

And don't even get me started on the standards black women are held to.

Yes! I’ve wanted Elizabeth to run for president since HRC’s failure. Elizabeth could have won. She had wayyyy less baggage than the Clinton’s. And she seems like there is a reasonable possibility she is not a wyte supremacist. This country is against progress for all and both the Dems status quo and rethuglicans are in on it together. Pres Obama didn’t need the Clintons to win the presidency. Obama knows Clinton is a rapist and most likely a pedo.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

The problem isn't "baggage." Hillary didn't have any REAL "baggage." The media created it and voters bought into it. What was the biggest "issue" and deciding factor in 2016? "Her emails!" And that was 100% invented by the GOP and wildly amplified by the media, especially The NY Times, which other outlets turn to for guidance. They could easily have blown up the "Pocahontas" thing that big although there was nothing there either. As for Bill Clinton, it's glaringly obvious he is NOT a "pedo." Wth all his dalliances, we've seen the type of woman he goes for and it's not remotely an adolescent. And he's asked for the full Epstein files to be released because he has nothing to hide. Who is trying to conceal them? Oh right ... that orange guy.

BlkCaliGirl's avatar

I feel her husband being an Epstein ally and documented accused rapist is baggage.

Anastasia Pantsios's avatar

Spoken just like a real Republican! Women are always required to carry men's baggage; the reverse is not true. They're not even asked to carry their own. And ALL Democrats are guilty, whereas with Republicans, they shout "fake news" and make the media shut up. And I still think the charges against Bill won't amount to anything. I followed this in the 90s and Republicans were desperate to find ANYTHINg to force Bill out of office. Everything they tried came up empty which convinced he was the least corrupt president in U.S. history.
