It’s interesting though how these “chosen Christians” somehow ignore anything Jesus actually SAID or DID, and operate from the assumption that they know better that what’s actually written in their own sacred texts. I used to (in the pre-Obergefell era) get into exchanges like this one all the time:
Me: Are we not all God’s creation?
They: Yes, yes we are.
Me: So we are as God created us?
They: Yes…
Me: Then how can you fault someone for being as God made them?
They: Well, God gave them free will
Me: So… God created them, gave them free will, and you think God screwed up in doing that? You want to take away that free will? At point of law? Do you consider yourself smarter than God?
This could branch in several directions at this point, and you’ll rarely see a Damascus Road moment evolve on the spot, but I like to think that planting the seed of logic at least made a difference in some percentage of cases.
All we can do is plant seeds of logic. All of us as far as I can tell, at least in the Mormon faith, have “shelf” items that don’t make sense but we put them on a shelf to “consider later”. In post-Mormon communities we refer to our shelf-breaking moment. So even if your conversations didn’t break the shelf, they likely made it a little heavier.
I like that… “shelf breaking moment”. Never heard that one, but it’s a great analogy. And I have to confess, there was a certain amount of entertainment value in those conversations. But I’m perverse that way. 😁 Good luck with your road to recovery. We had our share of medical adventures this year too, but they seem to be mostly behind us for now. Or at least in remission.
Don't want to be a naysayer; I want as much as all of you to take this trashy corrupt MAGA regime down...but isn't Cank going to pardon anyone we try to hold to account? Congress had better step up - either by Republicans coming to their senses or by Dems somehow gaining the majority. Sick of this orange turd and his greedy enablers.
That pardon power expires at noon on January 20th, 2029 — if not earlier. And the only way we actually FIX this, is to throw that “No looking back” idea over the side and go through the exercise of cleaning house. I mean Nuremberg level housecleaning. With actual prison sentences for not just Tangerine Cthulhu, but all of his enablers in Congress, the courts, the military, or the political financing machine brought on by Citizens United and McCutcheon — “without fear or favor”. Anybody that enabled this clusterfuck needs to be accountable.

That must consume way too much of your everyday living; so sorry you are dealing with all that. Surprised to hear that CA doesn't really know/understand Long Covid. From Hegseth down and including Trump all are guilty of war crimes. The commander, the pilots and everybody involved in these killings can’t claim like they did in the Nuremberg trials, “They were just following orders”. They go through hours of training to recognize illegal orders. They have pushed aside their training exchange for a loyalty to the Trump administration. Every one of them needs to be charged.
