Trophy Wives & Culture Wars: Trump’s Graduation Speech from Hell
Over the weekend, Donald Trump gave a commencement address at West Point that sounded less like a salute to service and more like a Nuremberg Rally disguised in dress blues. Standing before the next generation of Army leaders, Trump didn’t fake unity or humility—traits he possesses in equal measure to, say, a colony of fire ants.
No. Instead, Trump did what he does best: He turned a solemn moment into a screed of culture war bile, authoritarian chest-pounding and enough dick-measuring machismo to fill a fleet of tanks. He even managed to wedge in a demented warning to assembled cadets not to marry a "trophy wife," because…irony’s been court-martialed for a code red? I’m sure Jake Tapper’s working on the book right now.
Trump rambled through recycled lines about “dominating foes” and obliterating threats with the usual tone of a tool who spent more time watching Rambo than reading military strategy. Per Trump, the military’s real enemy is…drag shows. Worse, even, than the military-service-preventing, Bubonic-Plague-like affliction clearly rampant in Trump’s day: bone spurs??
No, Trump wasn’t there to inspire cadets. He was there to remind the base that the culture war’s alive and well, and that he plans to use our military as sword and stage. Because…it’s about me! Look at me! Pay attention to me! I have a gaping hole in the soul. Pleasssse like me!!
Trump’s idea of leadership isn’t rooted in service or sacrifice. That’s what makes him detest our military. Call them “suckers and losers,” and ask his former Chief of Staff, Gen. John Kelly, “what was in it for them,” while coldly staring at their graves. No, like tariffs, berating media and encouraging crowd violence, it’s a domination play for a desperately weak man. That and venality are all that animate this sad sack of discarded waste product with opposable thumbs (on very small hands).
Remember: It. Is. Always. About. Him. West Point was just his latest set and the cadets convenient props in his little authoritarian drama. So, while The Tapper Media will report this as just another Trump moment—because corporate media think their job’s to pick up a shovel and head for the nearest stable, those of us in indy media tell truths. This was dangerous glorification of brute force wrapped in patriotism as farce.
Trump didn’t give a speech at West Point—he issued a warning. That if he continues to hold onto untrammeled power, he won’t just corrupt civilian institutions. He’ll attempt to turn the U.S. military into his own personal palace guard, a new MAGA iron fist for a new Iron Curtain. And anyone still thinking this is just theater isn’t paying attention. It’s not just cosplay anymore. It’s an attempted coup with choreography.

EU Tariff Delay: President Trump announced a postponement of the proposed 50% tariffs on European Union goods, moving the implementation date from June 1 to July 9. I know, no way, right? I totally believed him this time!…He claimed this decision followed a constructive conversation with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, allowing additional time for trade negotiations. I’m gonna go with the more likely explanations: The crushed adderall pile high enough to focus an elephant ran out and he huddled in a corner like the coward he is, yet again, after manipulating the market and placing inside bets.
Criticism of Putin: In response to Russia's intensified aerial assaults on Ukraine, Trump labeled President Putin as having "gone absolutely CRAZY." He condemned the attacks and warned Putin's ambitions in Ukraine could lead to Russia's downfall. Huh? I can’t be sure, but I think this is the first time he’s ever criticized Putin so I gotta believe the call’s coming in from HQ soon to knock Donny back in line and he’ll be apologizing any moment now…
Harvard Grant Proposal: Trump proposed reallocating $3 billion in federal grants from Harvard University, which he accused of anti-semitism, to support trade schools. I’m not sure if this was right before or right after he accepted a $400MM jet from Qatar, who happily housed the leaders of Hamas for a long time.
