Today Republicans Traumatized our Kids at Their Schools Once Again

The Madness Must Stop

A whole lot of people concentrated on a very different act of gun violence today. So much so that many missed a uniquely despicable American tragedy that occurred yet again.

So I’m going to cover it, another mass school shooting in the United States of America.

The second of these assaults on decency in the two to three weeks most kids have been back in school. The second offering to Moloch by our very own Morlocks, rabid, dictatorial “men” lacking any empathy who just can’t be inconvenienced by background checks and such.

Today, it was Evergreen High School, 28 miles Southwest of Denver—an area that from Columbine to Aurora has suffered more than its fair share of these horrific tragedies.

"We've received three victims, all minors from Evergreen High School. They are currently being actively treated at St. Anthony Hospital. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center and prepared for situations like this," said Kevin Cullinan, President, CEO of CommonSpirit St. Anthony Hospital. "Each of the victims that we have sustained gunshot wounds. They are all, all three victims are all either in the Emergency Department or operating rooms at this time."

Law enforcement later confirmed that one of those three students is the suspect, and the scene at the school is now safe. They said a fourth student was also sent to the hospital with unknown injuries.

So, we have a whole new locale where our nation’s kids were treated to a lifetime trauma by the GOP.

Because congressional Republicans—who work for a group of bratty billionaires and the *we built bunkers and recycle our own urine* lobby who turn out in their primaries—and a confused, tiny-handed, hated cumquat of a President, refuse to pass the gun laws every other advanced nation has.

And because Republicans in robes—i.e. The Sharia Wing of Opus Dei that performed a hostile takeover of our Supreme Court—willfully misinterpreted a quite simple definition of the very straight forward words “well regulated militia.”

To them the quite obvious translation of this declaration is “any asshole with a few hundred bucks and a grudge.” So, they turned guns into the number one killer of children in America. Though, they’re working hard to bring some competition from measles or smallpox.

How proud they must all be.

And because of it, we regularly get treated to this, from the Jefferson County, Co area today:

You may remember a whole, I dunno, two weeks ago, was it, we had little children—basically babies—murdered by gun in their classrooms in Minnesota.

In the end, the way to stop this disease—that by numbers as high as 90% Americans support passing measures to end— is actually pretty easy.

Because the two political parties have made it simple for us to do the math.

One party post-Newtown, the Democratic Party, voted 97% in favor of key measures to stop this sick blight on our society. While the other, Republicans, voted 97% against these common sense reforms (yes, it really is this symmetrical).

So to summarize: Vote every single fucking cowardly, cruel, corrupt Republican out of office. And we’ll put a stop to this child-killing virus.
