The G.O.P. which actually stands for "Greedy Oligarch Psychopaths," are turning us into a shit-hole country where the workers become poorer and the rich own EVERYTHING.
By hook or crook we elected a talented con man into the Presidency a second time after he had conducted an attack on Congress. I would love to see proof he didn't win legally so I could exonerate the voters that elected him. But he learned his lesson in his first term and his current Administration is all flunkies that won't cross him. And apparently Republicans in Congress either go along willingly or are scared to death of MAGA. At any rate we have a nasty group of people in charge of our government that are trying to turn the country into christian facism. Our only hope is the midterm election and he is doing his best to kill all hope.
Reread the reasons each of these foreign countries took action - read what the offenses were of each person. They describe perfectly everything we have seen with trump. He is guilty of all their crimes and a great deal more. Pick one of the countless crimes he has committed and take action. He's a traitor, he's not following the laws of the Constitution, he's a sex offender on numerous levels and on and on. Do something!!!
Jail American heritage Kochs members jail trump jail trump cabinet jail trump family jail trump billionaires shared bribes with trump grab back their taxes at Eisenhower ww2 rate just to catch up. Jail them . Jail republicans supporting Trump Nazi government congress senate red state holders of government. Empty dilley pay the freed a million &each due their suffering.gill trump jails with all trump empire and those paid to have the jails jailed traitors all of them punish all of them .
And the reason is that the United States has a two party corporate duopoly system of government in Congress that provides security and socialism to the 1 to 1.5% of our American society. They opporate under the corporate domination of democracy. The coup d'etat goes deeper than most of us understand. For that reason I'll direct you to three internet searches. 1. The Lewis Powell Memo. 2. What's behind Trickle-down Economics. 3. What’s behind Citizens United. Join the United States Laborforces resistance in dissent of the oligathic authoritarian rule we've been put under by the 1.5% of our population that is the wealth hierarchy that has essentially purchased our supposed representation in the federal, state, and local governments. Vote Blue, and give priority to every Progressive Democrat on our ballots. They refuse corporate money in their campaigns for servants to the public. Then demand continuous public service of them. That is inline with what I consider good government, which is defind as: The care and happiness of humans, not their destruction, is the First and Only object of Good Government. That's All humans in context.
So how do we actually get the Representatives we send to Washington to actually do their job? Why do they still get paid when the government shuts down? They are out of Congress more than they are in, they shouldn't be paid. How can we control that, as the people who pay their salaries? We should act and have more control over them than we do and it shouldn't be term to term, should be day to day. Hell, if one of my employees keeps doing a shitty job, I don't wait 4 years to fire him or her...you're out of here NOW.
I think more digging needs to be done with Romania. Jared Kushner, Steven Witkoff and Trump Jr. have been stirring the political gambit in Romania for the last 3 or so years to change the political sphere to lean more right. Then Witkoff flew the TATE brothers to Florida (while they were under house arrest in Romania for sex trafficking, rape and money laundering) where they met, next bought real-estate in Palm Beach....and then.... wow, their house arrest was gone, they are back in US, and all chummy with the Trumps and especially Barron.
So while I am ranting....I cannot tolerate when this cabinet including Little Marco Rubio says, "We are a great country where we have Freedom of Speech, freedom to protest." And then they f-ing arrest you for both. And as for all that supposedly Tariff monies they collected??? Give it back to the people...how about those $2,000.00 checks he claims to be giving out?
Thank you for the article. You lay out the dangers without resorting to hysteria. It's very clear that we have a chance to take back our democracy if we act boldly. We certainly can't be hesitant about it. I realize that I'm a radical left lunatic but that is what this moment calls for, doesn't it?
I will never understand how the SC twisted the constitution in knots to make the President above the law. Especially after an attempted coup. Turns out these other countries practice what we preach. It is shameful that we didn't do that when we had the chance. Look at the price we are paying for that.
If we succeed in reclaiming democracy the administration needs to be held accountable for its lawlessness.
I can easily imagine deploying Merrick Garland and Gerald Ford during the madcap OJ escapade rerouting traffic for that runaway Bronco or advising law enforcement to “stand down.”
The argument against holding President's accountable is usually "The country needs to come together, and heal." Or "If we arrest the President it will just tear the country apart." Take a look around, people! This lack of accountability just doesn't work. If we do ever make the decision to hold these folks accountable we need to make a public spectacle of the entire process, from the "perp walk" to the jury verdict. Televise it all for everyone to see what happens when you run afoul of the Constitution. There's still a chance to turn this around, or is there?
I just became a paid subscriber after reading this article. I'm amazed that more folks aren't screaming this message from the mountain tops! This country NEVER holds Presidents accountable for criminal actions, and this practice goes as far back as Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Jackson, and Andrew Johnson! Consider those the early nails in the coffin of this democracy. It's hard to believe we haven't figured this part out yet. Country of law and order? Yeah, not so much. America is cooked!
Excellent read. I love his purposeful approach to politics! Spot on! I agree that if we are to survive this authoritarian regime we must have the truth and the Democrats must demand justice be taken against the Orange freak and his comrades!
Yes, let all those folks (Goldman,Lieu, AOC etc.) take the reins of power. There’s got to be something hugely different for our November. It’s absolutely true, that if you do not enforce accountability, you incentivize escalation: look at where we are now! If Norway, UK, South Korea, etc. can do it, we surely can! (imho)
We have four republicans currently in our Senate and House put into office by the one issue voters. That will buy guns and ammo. Four wheelers, tents, bows, and the like. Then not have money to feed their kids, pay their bills, and be responsible enough to put their families ahead of guns, 4-wheeler, bows, and other materialistic things.
Then, they go and vote against themselves, or not vote at all. Farmers who are being decimated by trumps tariffs (until the SCOTUS six) finally got it right issued a decision that rump had no authority to increase tariffs on imports, goods and services. Why not rule that unconstitutional right off the bat when the real democrats and organizations that have been filing lawsuits against the rump regime then? Because we know the people who have protested, wrote letters, called the Senators and Representatives, then, the people in Minneapolis, Chicago, Portland and Washington DC and New York protested against this corrupt trump regime. When the secret ICE police and Border agents started tear gassing, shooting at people and killing innocent American citizens and immigrants were treated with violence, hate, intimidation and contempt for their rights to habeas corpus.
Then, injustice department refuses to investigate the killing of Renee Good, and Alex Pretti. (Where other law enforcement agencies always investigate the deaths of all people have been killed.) Keith Porter,Luis Cacres, Geraldo Campos, Victor Diaz, Paraday La. All were found dead or by ICE, Border Patrol agents while in detention centers.
Luis Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Heber Sanchez Dominguez, who else has to die for people to wake up and see maybe their family or friends killed by members of Noems, goon squad.
Reading many books about the Holocaust (yes, it actually happened) the authors, Holocaust survivors. Wrote about the people who lived in their communities, and at their tables, worked in the same profession and their homes were always open to them. After Hitlers democratic party lost the election. Paul von Hindenburg, of the party that won the election died later. Hitler merged the chancellorship and presidency, creating the role of Fuher. Other parties were banned and only the nazi part was allowed. Hitler turned Germany into a totalitarian state, claiming the people voted for him.
The rise to power of Adolf Hitler, dictator of Germany during the Nazi era from 1933 until his suicide in 1945, began in the newly established Weimar Republic in September 1919, when Hitler joined the Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (DAP; German Workers' Party). He quickly rose to a place of prominence and became one of its most popular speakers. In an attempt to more broadly appeal to larger segments of the population and win over German workers, the party name was changed to the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP; National Socialist German Workers' Party), commonly known as the Nazi Party, and a new platform was adopted. Hitler was made the party leader in 1921 after he threatened to otherwise leave. By 1922, his control over the party was unchallenged. The Nazis were a right-wing party, but in the early years they also had anti-bourgeois elements. Hitler later initiated a purge of these elements and reaffirmed the Nazi Party's support for collaboration with German businesses. This included killings of Hitler's critics within the party during the Night of the Long Knives, which also served as a tool to secure power.
Hitler in 1923
In 1923, Hitler attempted a coup in Bavaria, known as the Beer Hall Putsch. He was arrested and put on trial, which garnered him national fame. He was sentenced to five years in fortress confinement, but served only nine months.[1] During this time, he wrote Mein Kampf, which became the handbook of his ideology of Nazism. Once released, Hitler switched tactics, opting to instead seize power through legal and democratic means. During the 1920s, he and the Nazis ran on a platform of anti-communism, antisemitism, and ultranationalism. Party leaders vociferously criticized the ruling democratic government and the Treaty of Versailles, while promising to turn Germany into a world power. Most Germans were indifferent to Hitler's rhetoric as the German economy began to recover, in large part due to loans from the United States under the Dawes Plan.[2] The German political landscape was dramatically affected by the Wall Street crash of 1929. The Great Depression severely weakened the German economy and further polarized German politics. During this tumultuous time, the German Communist Party also began campaigning and called for a revolution. Some business leaders, fearful of a communist takeover, began supporting the Nazi Party.
Hitler ran for the presidency in 1932 and was defeated by the incumbent Paul von Hindenburg, but achieved a strong showing of second place in both rounds. In July 1932, the Nazis became the largest party in the Reichstag, albeit short of an absolute majority. Traditionally, the leader of the party who held the most seats in the Reichstag was appointed Chancellor. However, President von Hindenburg was hesitant to appoint Hitler. Following several backroom negotiations, which included industrialists, Hindenburg's son Oskar, former chancellor Franz von Papen, and Hitler, Hindenburg acquiesced and on 30 January 1933, he formally appointed Hitler as Germany's new chancellor. Although he was chancellor, Hitler was not yet an absolute dictator.
The groundwork for Hitler's dictatorship was laid when the Reichstag was set on fire in February 1933. Accusing communists for the arson (Dutch communist Marinus van der Lubbe was found at the scene of the crime), Hitler convinced Hindenburg to pass the Reichstag Fire Decree, which severely curtailed the liberties and rights of German citizens as Hitler began eliminating his political opponents. Following the decree, he began arguing for more drastic means to curtail political opposition, and proposed the Enabling Act of 1933. This law gave the German government the power to override individual rights prescribed by the constitution, and vested the Chancellor (Hitler) with emergency powers to pass and enforce laws without parliamentary oversight. The law came into force in March, and by April, Hitler held de facto dictatorial powers and ordered the construction of the first concentration camp in Germany at Dachau for communists and other political opponents. Hitler's rise to power was completed in August 1934 when, after Hindenburg's death, Hitler merged the chancellery with the presidency into the title of Führer ("leader").
Hitler's rise to power was aided by his willingness to use violence in advancing his political objectives and to recruit party members willing to do the same. In addition to electoral battles in which Hitler participated as a speaker and organizer, violent street battle took place between the Communists' Rotfrontkämpferbund and the Nazis' Sturmabteilung (SA). Once the dictatorship was firmly established, the Nazis themselves created a mythology surrounding their rise to power. German propaganda described this time period as either the Kampfzeit (the time of struggle) or the Kampfjahre (years of struggle).
