We have a dangerous, anti-vaccine ignoramus in charge of our health, and far too many people who agree with him. The MMR vaccine protects against three illnesses: measles, mumps, and rubella. All three have serious side effects, one of which is death. Measles can also cause hearing, vision, and brain damage. I have a cousin who suffered all three after catching measles before there was a vaccine. Mumps can cause boys to become sterile. Fetuses that are in their first trimester can be killed by rubella, or suffer serious damage such as deafness from that virus. Polio is back in New York State...ever seen an iron lung? And how about diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), tetanus, smallpox? There are more!

It’s terrifying to think that my great grandchildren (who have been vaccinated but they are all under 8yrs old ) will grow up with magamorons who are unvaccinated. Many classmates and friends of theirs will be walking little Petri dishes full of fulminating diseases. Magat/republican policies are nothing more than regressive punishment for the masses while protecting the ulta rich pedophile/billionaire class. As Ossof recently stated, the “Epstein class “, in other words, the morally bankrupt, ethics deficient rot that the wealthy aspires to. Past time to tax the uber wealthy, corporations, and the mega prosperity gospel churches .

Add to the problem the fact that unless a minimum percentage of the population is vaccinated, there is no herd protection. Some people cannot be vaccinated because of their ages (infants), or health conditions that don't allow it, but herd immunity helped to protect them. These anti-vaxxers are endangering many others.

RFK Jr. is a THREAT to the Health and Safety to EVERYONE (no matter the age) in America and the world!

RFK2 is changing the HHS logo and mission statement. The new logo replaces the eagle with a black raven and the new mission statement is Bring Out Your Dead.

Sad state of affairs when an individual's "choice" is more important than the good of all. These diseases can be deadly and when not fatal can cause serious disabilities. Pretty scary when some lunatic's opinion, conspiracy theory, supercedes proven scientific facts. Who ever thought we'd see the day that we would choose to move backward in healthcare! Progress is the goal. No surprise we're going backwards with healthcare. Why should that be any different to this joke of an administration than everything else they are moving backwards with???

There was a time when there were TWO reasons to be vaccinated...to protect oneself, AND TO PROTECT OTHERS! Others don't seem to matter anymore.

But they still matter to many of us. Thank God for that! Let's try to hang onto that for strength.

I live in the middle of this outbreak area and just had a conversation with a gentleman about the subject. We are both hopeful that vaccinations are increasing (which they are) and with that, awareness of the benefits of vaccinations and the damage of disease. I would add to this piece’s call for action for people to speak to their local and state officials as well. That’s where most healthcare and health regulations take place. We have received rightful attention due to the outbreak and there is worrisome legislation floating around the statehouse, but we are not alone. Vaccination rates have fallen across the country, for a variety of reasons. It will take a concerted effort to bring them back up. Take care.

Thank you for commenting! I hope your area gets its numbers up and can start to slow the replication rate of this Easily, curable disease.

That's why people like us continue to get vaccinated! We care about others, and we're also not foolish...and I'm using a nice word there!
