This had/has nothing to do with Rob Reiner, this was just the most despicable thing available and its intent is to normalize whatever the last “most despicable thing” was. It’s progressive (or regressive perhaps) conditioning intended to lower the bar. The next “most despicable thing ever“ will escalate yet again, so that this looks like “Trump being Trump”.
