Thanks David for this needed column. You paint this vile bottom feeding wretch with the right color. I hope for the day the headline will read, He is dead. We as a nation need to rid ourselves of this plague.

The barrel has rusted out and it has no bottom!

I used to think there was a “bottom”. Now I’m not sure there is even one.

The classlessness and cruelty is the point. This had/has nothing to do with Rob Reiner, this was just the most despicable thing available and its intent is to normalize whatever the last “most despicable thing” was. It’s progressive (or regressive perhaps) conditioning intended to lower the bar. The next “most despicable thing ever“ will escalate yet again, so that this looks like “Trump being Trump”. We must — MUST — remain mindful of the fact that THIS IS NOT NORMAL. NONE OF THIS IS NORMAL. Because if we do not, then the threshold for outrage will remain eroded long after Trump is turned to dust. And that cannot end well for us.

You are absolutely right! Normalizing evil, hate, bigotry and indecency is their goal. Once it becomes normal and the shock factor erodes, we're finished!

Keep feeling appalled and expressing it!!!

Trump has always been this depraved and immoral. Thank Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, Jesse Watters, Megan Kelly and their similarly minded colleagues for normalizing and then justifying his actions.

Trump was not born with the DNA of normal human beings. Mr. Reiners comments were based on ideology and evidence. Watching video clips of each man proves The Good Die Young.

Thank you, David, for putting into words exactly what we are all thinking and feeling.

It helps all of us to read this and say, 'yes that's it exactly'. Sad, horrifying truth you laid out. To me, he's beyond words at this point yet you manage to find the words to express it. There's nothing more to say about this disgrace to our country.

Trump is a big, fat pompous ass, every day in every way. If there's one way for him to go, I hope is AWAY !!! We should all celebrate the holidays, despite the never ending crap he bestows on us. Party Hardy, my friends !!!

Thank you for this. Trump's narcissism, cruelty and dementia have gone toi 11.

Why does seem like it will never happen? Why are we NOT getting rid of him? What’s the hold-up? Not SCOTUS surely!

Here's almost everything you need to know about the current gop (maga) in a succinct list format.

The Maga appeal consists of a set of visceral emotional and instinctive TRIGGERS that constitute a behavioral and performative lexicon of shared identity. The categories are:

Fear and loathing

Domination

Retribution

Grievance

Victimhood

Infantilism

Fetishism

. Toxic masculinity

Hypocrisy

Bullying

White Christian paranoia

Addiction to cruelty

License for violence

Aversion to fact, science, reason and reality

The conspiracy theories of Q, etc. are vehicles of these Triggers.

All gop “policy” has become a vehicle for these Triggers.

The irrationality is Maga’s super-power. It is unassailable by criticism, discourse, argument, persuasion, negotiation and compromise. It is a closed fist. It is a prerequisite for a totalitarian cult.

GRIFTERISM is the organizing principle of today’s gop, from the apex predators to the rank and file hustlers. Grifterism is the intersection of the gop with the white Christian male supremacy grift industry, the anti-abortion grift industry, and the cottage grift industries of multilevel marketing and social media “influencing”.

Grifterism is also another reason for the gop’s aversion to fact, science, reason and reality.

So long as you relegate snide remarks to people with disabilities, highly decorated war veterans, blanket misogyny, sexual comments about your own kids, inappropriate comments about subordinates’ body parts, and bigotry…totally fine.

Just ease up on Charlie Kirk criticism. Wildly poor taste.

There’s just a level of social decorum—a bar—that he and others don’t possess. It’s nothing with which I want to associate in any theater. I didn’t care for Kirk. I also didn’t, and don’t, wish for people to be murdered for what they think and then use their demise for my gain or pettiness.

It’s just a shit human being thing to do.
