Tapper and his ilk in the MSM are why I dropped my subscriptions to WaPo and NY Times. They no longer can be trusted to function as the Fourth Estate as envisioned by the Founders. Indy news is our last hope for an informed and educated public.
Please don't lump in Washington Post and New York Times, which I read cover to cover every day regardless of what they sell is doing the journalist tear are the heroes and heroines of our democracy. & it reconfirmed what I had said before about it. They made Biden do their jobs as moderators & turned it into a “he said, he said” fiasco.
It was one of my main motivations in writing about the Kerner Commission. Just as the Press back then deserved to be criticized, so shall the Press today. Because they deserve it. Especially when they’re not going to follow through on their jobs professionally.
I feel the SAME WAY!! Enough already about BIDEN!! He's GONE!! When is the mainstream media going to start focusing on Trump's brain or lack thereof?? He can't speak one continuous sentence that actually makes sense without going off-track onto a totally different unrelated topic. And half of what he does attempt to say makes no sense when he isn't out and out lying. Critiquing stealth bombers because he doesn't like the way they look??!! He's never met the person he nominated for Surgeon General and didn't know she doesn't have a Medical Degree? He hasn't sat for or read most of his Daily Briefings? Falling asleep at public events (two in recent weeks)?? Biden would have been crucified as totally mentally incompetent.
I couldn’t put into words why I have been so irritated Jake Tapper writing this book and therefore HANDING fodder to MAGA disciples and their networks on a SILVER TRAY to be dissected, analyzed, and amplified for the next several weeks until I read your piece. This is it, THIS is why I’m angry. What is this book going to accomplish when our present is America slip-sliding headfirst into an autocracy lead by a fascist clown who is impressed by long purple carpets and men performing dances with swords. What is this book going to do when America and Americans are being sold for meme-coins? So thank you for helping me figure out why I’m so mad at Tapper and disappointed in him.
Yah, I've been hearing about Tapper's book--disgusting. No chance that I will buy or read it! I just gotta wonder, what do the media have against Biden? They gleefully hounded him out of office, and now they just can't seem to leave him alone. All the while the orange menace is stealing, grifting, tanking the economy and terrorizing innocent migrants and students. And if they were so quick to pounce on Biden's supposed decline, why are they not all over trump's--it's clearly far worse. There will be a few salacious reviews and probably interviews with Tapper, and then we can hope the book gets tossed in the bin.
I've been not thinking about this much. Someone wrote a book about Biden? Why? Why should I give a shit about that? He had his good moments and bad. But, isn't he the past? Don't we have more important things to worry about?
Finally I decided this shit wasn't going away. There was the Stanley Greenberg piece blaming Biden for ruining Kamala's run for President. My inbox flooded with stuff from Axios about it. I had to look into it a little. And so I did, a little. I came to the conclusion that my previous attitude was basically correct.
Did Dems make mistakes in 2024? No doubt! But all of this seems ultimately geared to getting Dems not to resist so loudly. It assumes that the issues that were salient in 2024 (the price of eggs, "the border", which is code for being as shitty as possible to immigrants) will remain so in '26 and '28 and forever.
Not so. Trump is very busy creating new issues every day. Many are good issues for us. Low hanging fruit. Turning off some of those who voted for him.
