I can’t believe the current administration believes spending 200 billion dollars on a war to kill Iranians and lose many US Service members is justified. It is wrong and immoral!! It is past time for Congress to stop this madness.
Thank you for an amazing and informative post!! This "war" is so unnecessary in my opinion and especially since we Americans can't get adequate funding for health care. I strongly object to giving Israel additional funding and feel Netanyahu is a deceptive, manipulative and greedy man who will never be satisfied. We are financing his genocide.
Dr Lullove, this was a great post. When you put it in terms of infection care I could see exactly what you were talking about, having worked in medical labs for 40 years as a medical technologist. It also was triggering as I got really sick with necrotizing faciitis, aka flesh eating bacteria, a few years ago. It infected my leg and I ended up in the trauma hospital for almost 3 months. I had health insurance but still the lost wages and bills sent me into medical bankruptcy. I also had the good timing to get sick in 2008, at the height of the housing crisis. I lost my house and although I tried to return to work, I couldn't do the job anymore and I was forced to retire. I heard from one NF survivor from Canada that everything was covered for her treatment. No problem. If only the US had universal health-care, it would be cheaper than what we have now. Sorry, I totally got off topic. I told you that your post was triggering! You made a lot of good points in your post. I can't say that I enjoyed the comparisons, but I did understand them. Thank you.
As long as the MAGA Republicans with no spine control the House and Senate, there will be no change in our priorities.
What's needed, in addition to taking over the House and Senate by rational Democrats, and then the White House in 2028, is such a calamitous depression that a new FDR-type figure is elected president -- and has a radical progressive Congress to support him.
Then all the tax cuts for the wealthy that have been enacted over the last 45 years, since Reagan first walked into the White House, can be rescinded. So can all the corporate tax cuts that have enriched CEOs beyond any level ever experienced in the Gilded Age. Finally corporate charters must return to their original purpose of producing a product and serving the people, rather than being beholden only to shareholders -- which the Supreme Court bestowed upon them under Reagan.
Additional members of the Supreme Court (which is not packing the court but rather restoring it) and the kind of radical legislation that FDR got enacted in his first 100 days, and the kind of focus that Lyndon Johnson brought to passing the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act in the early sixties, are the only things that will save this country from its oligarchs, right-wing fascists, and anti-American seditionists.
Oh, and deporting anti-American Constitution-haters Peter Thiele, Elon Musk, and all the Murdoch spawn.
We all agree that healthcare and education is more important from r the security of our country than war. But, if you look at history Johnson & Nixon did Vietnam and Bush II did Iraq. Each time the taxpayers pay, American soldiers die, and those at the top make tons of money. The answer to the question is common sense but the answer is useless until we either get these bums out of office or hobble them at the midterms. No peace until the war mongers are stopped.
It is all SO wrong. The whole government needs to be revamped-with Liberty and Justice for all. Thanks for this great post.

Can we all wake up and this NIGHTMARE be over? I'm so sick of his shit!

Thanks so much for sharing your story! Sorry that you had to go through all of that. We just need to do better as a society picking our leaders.
Agreed! We do indeed.
