Is It Easier for George Costanza To Get Himself Fired Than Joe Scarborough??
Because, dayum, Joe seems to be trying everything, and nothing's working
WELCOME!
Folks,
First, thank you for joining my maiden voyage in Substack’s calmer waters. I hope you enjoy this post, and many more to come!
JOE PUTS COSTANZA TO SHAME
What will it take for MSNBC to finally fire Joe Scarborough?? He’s spent forever using his morning show as his little fiefdom, where let’s face it, even when you liked his newly adopted politics, you could see the man was a comical jack-in-the-box.
Yet, more recently, he’s outdone himself (SEE THE VIDEO ABOVE), twisting reality into pretzels to get Trump's blubbery back ever since his sojourn w Mika to Neville-Chamberlain it at Mar-a-Bedbug-on-the-Atlantic. Joe just wants to be fair, you see. Civility is a one way street. He made sure to make this clear to all his guests, including Michael Steele, and 2-4 viewers out in the wild.
It was a bit like watching a guy juggle flaming bowling pins while shouting, “Look at how balanced I am, I’m a real journalist!” Spoiler alert, Joseph: You’re not. You never were. You're still, in the end, a shill for Trump. And more to the point, a clown juggling bowling pins.
Also, perhaps the only known case of pure arrogance evolving a larynx and pompadour.
Meanwhile, Morning Joe has OANN ratings and it isn’t helping MSNBC’s already suffering numbers overall. In short, the ship has sailed, the deed is done, he’s killing MSNBC’S brand. And they seem to be the only ones who don’t know it yet.
I mean, seriously, will this guy have to take out an old Babe Ruth uniform and spill his lunch all over it?
MICHAEL STEELE MAULS
Enter Michael Steele, former RNC Chair and winner by knockout in this “war-fighting” as Pete Hegseth would call it. Steele didn’t just push back on Joe’s nonsense about being civil to Trump; he handed him a rhetorical arse-whooping that should be mandatory viewing.
Watching Steele dismantle Joe’s defense of "being civil to Trump" was like watching a parent talk to a toddler. Except, in this case, the toddler was Scarborough’s fragile ego. Here’s the thing: Joe’s refusal to hold Trump accountable since the latter won the election—b/c the former is more worried about his status, ratings, and access—is nauseating. It enables the very chaos and division that define MAGA. If MSNBC values credibility, ENOUGH ALREADY with this guy!
Let Joe take that smug look to the nearest podcasting mic or golf course. Give Michael Steele the platform—or a host of others I can think of off the top of my head, all willing to fight for democracy. Or just hand over the gig over to particularly fetching lampshade. Any of the above would do far more for democracy, honestly, transparency, and decency than Scarborough—when he was fluffing Trump in 2016, fighting with him since (over ego, not politics) or now having entered his re-fluffing phase for the good of The Joe Morning Joe.
As Melvin Udall, played by the inimitable Jack Nicholson, said in As Good As It Gets, “sell crazy somewhere else, we’re all stocked up here.”
Well said Cliff. The man is pathetic.
Does anyone even watch Joe and Mika? They’re both ridiculous.
