That's great because the more people that vote the better Democracy works. But Cliff, we don't need people doing what you said you were going to do in Michigan and not vote in the Senate race. That is exactly how Trump got back into office after the failure he wass the 1st time, because people would not vote for Trump and would not vote for a Black Woman. Fact is if everyone was blind, no one would be black so what happened we had 6 million Democrats that are still racist enough or masogynist enough to not eliminate Trump and now we are in this mess. GO VOTE CLIFF!
David, my friend, I’ve always said there’s no one issue that’s disqualifying for me. No matter my feelings on policies or individuals, as a center-left Dem, I’d vote for Manchin in WV and Bernie Sanders in VT. As long as they both vote for Democratic leaders. Which Manchin did, and Bernie does.
But I never thought I’d be targeted for my ethnicity. That’s a red line. Would you vote for someone who denied your existence? Justified an attack on a place of worship by terrorists? I stand by what I said. BUT now AES has apologized—that’s all I wanted—& condemned the terrorists who tried to blow up 140 kids in a temple. So I’ve changed my position. Seems enough ppl saying what I did got him to do the right thing. Also, I live in Ohio, so I’ll RUN to the polls to vote for Sherrod Brown/Amy Acton.
This is wonderful however we need to remain united in order to remove the pedophilic criminals that are now the GOP platform and that means unfortunately we really truly only have a choice between democratic and republican voting… as it stands right now. We absolutely need to make some changes later downstream, which includes an eradication of the GOP, which now has baked into its brand, rape, sex, trafficking, pedophilia, and blatant self enrichment and criminal overall. The fact that the Republican part instead of squashing this bug when it Rear, it’s ugly Head decided to embrace it fully and defend. It is the reason why the party is cooked. So I would advise running on a Democratic ticket and be sure that you are not taking any Corporate pack money that you are on board with eradicating citizens United, the electoral college, taxing the oligarch parasite class appropriately as we did in the 60s and 70s up until Reagan came up with the trickle down economics that we know doesn’t work and starves poor the middle classes into extinction. Let’s stay united because this is this midterm our last effort to save ourselves truly, and get rid of the orange antichrist and all the evil that unfortunately the GOP now stands for.
I fully agree Suzanne. And one of the key points here is that we have a bunch of folks running as independents out west who will vote Democratic on most things and could never win as Democrats. This is Democrats and Independents uniting
I honestly believe that the rise of 'Democratic Socialists' has happened because over the last 40 years or so our country has moved WAY too far to the right, especially when it comes to the paucity of basic rights for working people, the rise of an extreme oligarchy and the move toward systems that should not be for-profit, like healthcare. Capitalism brought this on itself by going to such as extreme. They don't call it 'disaster capitalism' for nothing. The same thing happened back in the early 20th century, when working people were treated so badly they resorted to violence. FDR basically saved capitalism.
You could not be more correct, CLS. I don’t think they are the answer. But I’ve said I get why they rose, bc Democrats failed to put together an FDR like platform to fight for regular ppl and go after the all the predators—sexual, financial, autocratic. Ie the billionaire class. People were going to express their anger somehow/somewhere. I’m angry too. I just know we need real solutions, one of which, as you said, is taking profit out of basic necessities like healthcare (there can be gold-plated services for the rich, like Western Europe has, but all basic healthcare covered). I’d do it with transportation too. Schools. Prisons. But I digress, your point is well taken, I just think we need a more realistic, optimistic, inclusive alternative

Thank you Cliff, we are at a bad time in our country where we don't havew the luxury of being able to sit one out if we don't like who is running. I fully under your point and I not being Jewish I can't say what I would do but I do see the Reich trying to conflate Americans Jews with Israeli Jews and just because an American is Jewish it doesn't make them an Israeli. Trump most of all doesn't understand that fact and I've watched my entire 68yrs and the Repubs in general don't seem to get it. They whine about anti-semitism when it is about something with Israel but they make sure everyone knows just how much they hate Americans that are not solid white and Baptist. Their biggest target Soros and they attack him daily, one of the last people alive to survive Nazi occupation and they ahte that Jewish man with a passion. Over the years I've come to understand you can't trust the Reich on anything and a person has to take every possible change to fight against them, and sadly that at times means siding with our personal enemies when we both are on the same team. One thing Dems have gotten bad about is this entire "Earning Your Vote" when that is not how anything works but it gives people the fake excuse to not vote. When you hear "No One Came ot my District so I'm not Voting for Either" a person has done just exactly what the Reich wants, people not voting. What should be taught abd pushed is to listen to candidates and go vote foe the one that most closely matches you ideals. Look at Austrailia, voting is law, look how little problem they have with the very things we all struggle with. I call what they do Demcracy Max.
