Another irony is that his name is now above that of a war hero (PT109 anyone?) while he was bought out of serving in the armed forces by his rich daddy. Someone else had to go in his place.

Indeed. JFK had a rich daddy, too, but he volunteered to serve his country. A more profound contrast, I cannot think of.

As someone else posted, trumps is like a dog that has to lift its leg to pee on anyone more successful than he….

For me, all the horror and grief I’ve felt over Trump’s massive cruelty and destruction, his polluting of the Kennedy Center is the most heart wrenching. Silly me, I didn’t think he would bother with something dedicated to the arts, but clearly I should have known better. It still astonishes me that we cannot manage to stop him or slow him done. I’m in my late 70’s and I surely hope I’ll be around long enough to see us start recovering from Trump’s ego-driven reign.

I wonder if this will cause even more acts to flee. I have to say I was distressed today when a woman I know who is a really creative, award-winning musician posted that she is performing at the Trump Center. I suspect it will make it even more toxic. I also wonder how they got it together to have the new name put on the building so quickly. I wonder if this was already in the works and the "vote" was merely theater. Who are these construction and building companies willing to do this work? It's not something they'll want to list on their website in D.C. and who knows if they'll get paid.

I agree—I think it was ready-to-go at any moment he had the impulse to do it.

Perhaps the most reprehensible aspect of the desecration of the Kennedy Center is, not so much that Trump has applied his name to it, for that is not a surprising act from malignant narcissist, but rather that John Thune and Mike Johnson and the other supposed “leaders” of the Republican party are not outraged. Their complicity, by their silence, is as blatant as it was with the destruction of the East Wing of the White House. They are so obviously devoid of integrity and morality.

Putting Trump's name on the Kennedy Center is as if someone smeared pig shit on the Mona Lisa.

Disdain and disgust are the two adjectives that I apply to this travesty. In the greater context of all of the regime's atrocities, this may seem small. But it is not. It is meant to trash and sully our cultural values. Wasn't it convenient that it occurred just as Congress was preparing to leave town. We must not let it stand.

Tragically, 40% of the American people are O.K. with anything Trump says or does. We are still the majority and must do everything we can to vote ALL Republicans out of office!

Does anyone doubt that this was in the works for some time? There is no way that experienced crews, equipment and the same sized letters in the same font were pulled together in a matter of days. We should say the same about the East Wing's demo, that had to be coordinated, so what we are seeing as being "on a whim" has been calculated, probably from MaL over the past year or more by skilled tacticians who know how to mobilize teams. We saw it in the way they put up the barracks in a fucking swamp in FL, in the soupy heat ffs. Let's find out more about that, the actual string pullers who've been making all of these heinous things happen.

Well done, David! Expressed so well and exposing the disgusting truth of it. He and his partners in crime (and I do mean that literally!) are beyond vile. This building is a memorial, a monument to honor someone's achievements and memory. What the hell does that have to do with trump??? I thought it was pretty appalling when he slapped his name on a bridge paid for by Joe Biden's Infrastructure Bill. But this, this is nothing short of despicable and unforgivable. His egotistical acts of horror are beyond belief! Who the hell does this idiot think he is? His name should not be memorialized, it should be erased from history. As far as overstepping Congress, everything they do is breaking the law and eliminating Congress's role in our government. They claim they want to control crime with ICE and blowing up civilians in the ocean. How about controlling crime in the damn Whitehouse, that's where the most dangerous criminals are!!!

Shuster’s comments on the Kennedy Center are music to my ears.

I do have one question:Has anyone ever renamed a Memorial to another individual? The word Memorial is in the official name of the center. Does this mean that Trump is now a part of the memory? The last time I looked, he was still alive.

Greek Revival. Roman Classical, even Islamic Symmetric. Egyptian Symbolic, like the Washington Monument. OK, some of these aren't real. But they're miles & years closer than Garage Mahal, the notion that the likes of the Jefferson Memorial would look better with gold-plated aluminum siding. Maybe Trumplydyte?

Another strafing t flyby to aggrandize himself while he dumps a load on a venerable American war hero. If this doesn't signify that he's mental and has daddy issues I don't know what does.
